Executive Director, Durham Library Foundation

The Durham Library Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, is reorganizing its work in support of the Durham County Library system and seeks a part-time Executive Director.  The ideal candidate is a self-starter with good community relations, organizational, fundraising and managerial skills. Under the direction of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director will provide oversight and administrative support for the Foundation’s operations including communications with Library staff, donors and the wider community; management of records and disbursements; and coordination of board meetings and Foundation events.  The Executive Director will play an important role in positioning the Foundation and Library for critical fundraising efforts ahead.

The Foundation was founded in 2000 to raise private funds needed to support programs providing a margin of excellence for the Durham County Library system. As the fiduciary agent for these funds, the Foundation’s independent and prudent investment strategies aim to maximize each gift’s long-term benefit to the library and its fiscal procedures enable tracking of gifts from donors, disbursements to the Library and reports on expenditures. Gifts from the Foundation are used to fund enhancements and improvements that the Library could not otherwise afford through its annual County funded operating budget.
